Penelope Co. Candles

I was inspired to write this one a fluke, a person I follow on twitter complained about candle scent suggestions from a (redacted) stores annual sale. Knowing that she was really into quality product (she is an amazing makeup artist) and that she lived in the SF Bay Area, I jumped at the opportunity to suggest my favorite candle of all time.

Penelope Candles, are soy based/100% cotton wicked (that even have recycled labeling) and made right in my hometown of Oakland, CA. My favorite fragrance that I buy and ask for (it is on my Holiday list) is Flannel Shirt. Flannel Shirt is just one of those fragrances that everyone will be drawn to, it has notes of Teakwood, Cedar, and Tobacco (it’s not at all overtly/overly “masculine”). I have also smelled a few more from the brand that are also great. I have a few like “Autumn Harvest”, and “Bourbon Apple Glaze” my list since I love gourmand fragrances.

The bonus with Penelope Candles you do not have to worry about gross chemicals and an overwhelming (sickly) amount of fragrance, the candles are refreshing and subtle, and add to but never overwhelms your environment. Since they are hand poured signature fragranced candles, you will have to shell out a few more bucks than you may be used to, $22 for an 8.5oz size and $15 for a 5oz (travel-ish size). If you are in the Bay Area, you can avoid the wait and shipping cost and pick one or more up and one of the many SF Bay locations. If you are not Bay Area based do not worry they ship!
