DIY Hot Oil Manicure

As most of you know I really enjoy painting/ doing art on my own nails. Recently, I really am getting into doing my own manicures (I may try my own get manicure soon, make sure to check out my IG page for nail art: bastylefilegirl). Because of that I’ve been trying to change up the type of manicures I do (I usually do 100% dry manicures), when I came upon the idea for a hot oil manicure.  Since I’m rocking my real nails (no hard or soft gels), I figured this would be the perfect time to do this. It’s also easy to do if you live in a place that has a grocery store that also has a lot of natural products like Sprouts (which is where I got a lot of this stuff from)

Ingredients (I didn’t do exact measurements):

Castor Oil, Sweet Almond Oil, Vitamin E, Olive Oil, Tea Tree Oil

  • Put together your oil mixture (you can use mine or oils that work well for your skin, I would make sure that tea tree oil is used though)

  • Wash your hands and file the nails and shape them as desired.

  • Warm the oil for 30 seconds in the microwave.

  • Dip hands in it and keep it till the oil cools down. You can do this more than once just by reheating the oil.

  • Remove your hands from the oil and massage your hands, cuticles/nail beds

  • Wash off excess oils

  • Now push the cuticles and remove excess skin/hang nails

  • DO NOT APPLY NAIL POLISH (the use of oil will make it hard for the polish to adhere and you’ll have lots of chipping etc. Wait at least a day before applying polish).

P.S. Because you used vitamin e (a natural preservative) you can place in a amber/blue bottle in in a cool place and use it again later on in the week.
